Alpine Ibex

The alpine ibex could once be found throughout the European Alps. Their dramatic, scimitar horns were sought by sport hunters and used for medicinal purposes. Now after a successful breeding program, thousands of these majestic animals once again range in Switzerland. I composed the photograph to create a cathedral-like opening through their horns.

Provenance for collectors: this image was created on film and featured in Art’s book The Living Wild.
