Bengal Tiger

A tiger crosses a clearing in the dense forest in central India. This is one of my favorite tiger shots simply because of the elegant position of this powerful cat. The shoulder muscles are very much in evidence. China’s burgeoning economy has escalated the illegal trade of tiger parts, so tigers have become increasingly endangered throughout Asia. India’s efforts to combat poaching and manage wildlife habitat represent the last remaining hope for these beautiful animals.

As seen in Art Wolfe’s Travels to the Edge.
