The Galapagos hawk (Buteo galapagoensis) is one of the many species whose range extends only to certain islands in the isolated Galapagos, off the coast of Ecuador. This hawk inhabits a variety of territories on the islands, including shorelines, deciduous forests, lava fields, and mountains. It also has no natural predators and is a skilled hunter with many food sources. Despite this, human interference has reduced the Galapagos hawk’s populations to the point that it is now considered vulnerable.
