On Australia’s Kangaroo Island, high above the ground, a koala cradles its baby on the limb of a giant eucalyptus tree. To get this shot and its unusual perspective, I climbed the tree, concealing myself behind the trunk. The koala were sleeping soundly and when I clicked the shutter, they looked at me, watched as I took a series of photos, then went right back to sleep when I left.
Provenance for the collector: this image was created on film and featured in Art’s book The Living Wild.
Art has carefully chosen a select group of images for his Open Edition Fine Art Collection. They are printed on EPSON Premium Photo Luster paper using archival EPSON Ultrachrome inks. Art signs the print with a silver acid-free pen.
